The Vision

My vision is to reach people on a personal level through art and writing to encourage healing and growth through self‑empowerment. To coincide with that vision, my book Avoid The Coming Crisis—A Geek’s Survival Guide to Midlife is the clearest expression of that mission so far: a guide built from my own lived experience with anxiety, depression, therapy, and the work of rebuilding a life from the inside out.

It addresses the idea that we don’t have to accept the cause and effect of the negative impacts in society today. If current events are causing us to despair, we must do more than seek help for our anguish. That’s a great start, but nothing will ever change unless we do. It’s hard to make a difference in the world if we’re falling apart ourselves. When we reach a safer place, we can begin challenging the problems we see in the status quo. It’s then that we can do our part to make a difference in the world.

Here is how I try to make a difference with my fantasy works. I use my stories, illustrations, and the multimedia World of Christopharo to spark that conversation and invite people into a space where imagination and healing can coexist. The shared purpose is simple: to help midlifers reclaim their spark, rebuild their sense of self, and step into Childhood 2.0—a place where midlife becomes awesome again.

I’m flawed, learning, and still doing the work. I take my meds, I meet with my therapist, and I keep pushing toward a healthier body, mind, and soul. Through my stories and my advocacy, I hope to make a difference for anyone who needs a reminder that they’re not alone.

I invite you to join me in this ongoing quest toward empowerment—how will you make a difference?

Why I Advocate for Mental Healthcare

This is some text inside of a div block.
Since 1998, Christopharo has worked in the entertainment industry–contracted by numerous studios as well as toy companies until he recently retired to focus on writing and creating art for his vision of promoting mental healthcare & self-empowerment.

A Journey of Self-Empowerment

"I’ve lived a lifetime of adventures that have taken me across the United States and to exotic regions of Europe. But I've also plummeted into the darkest corners of my labyrinth mind and somehow found my way back again through the abyss of despair."
—Christopharo

The Power of Fantasy

Mental health care has come a long way for people that are in need of it. The taboo that has long since surrounded it in the past has begun to erode away as treatments and therapy have become more widely accepted. Yet there are many that still teeter on the notion of accepting the assistance for the kind of care they need. Fantasy stories can’t cure mental health issues, but they can provide a great opportunity for escape. Hopefully some of the work I do in my writing and art, as well as my efforts to advocate for mental healthcare, will help normalize the process for people in need of treatment and care because:

Sometimes just talking isn’t enough

I’ve known many people with some very serious mental health issues and only medications and specialized treatments can help in those cases.

Suicide is Never the answer

The topic of suicide is very difficult for me. I’ve even known people that were close to me that struggled with it. I share this to emphasize how important real support and professional care are. Life is too precious to throw away.

Becoming The Better Version of You

I love creating fantasy and helping people. So, I decided to create a fantasy world in such a way as to entertain and inspire people to make a difference and take action in their lives and the world around them.

I don’t claim to be an expert in mental healthcare. However, I have learned a lot about it out of necessity as well as my fascination with what shapes and drives us. In addition, I’ve also had a number of people seek my advice about issues they face. Sometimes people just need another person to listen. But, but other times, people need professional help.

I think the most important thing to do is to guide and encourage people to get the professional help they need. Some people just need a little encouragement others need to see that therapy and treatment can actually help. Especially when there are those that need medications and other treatments. I feel some people just need to realize; one doesn’t need to be mentally ill to need mental healthcare. Making the choice for oneself to get the right care and treatment for oneself is truly empowering…

I do my best to promote and encourage mental healthcare but also self-empowerment in my stories and artwork. Hopefully, between my writing, art, and website, people have a good roadmap to empower themselves to get the tools and courage they need to navigate their way to a healthier version of themselves where they can begin to thrive.
Now that you've seen what the goals and vision is for the World of Christopharo, what is your takeaway? Do you have a vision and goal for yourself? Let me know...
